LPGA Samsung World Championship: First Impressions

I am a rookie. I admit it. A rookie golfer, see Bogey Golfer. I am also a rookie at covering golfing events. But everyone has to start somewhere, right? I started at the Walmart First Tee Open in Pebble Beach. And now I am attending the LPGA Samsung World Championship in Half Moon Bay, Calif. It’s about an hour from where I live.

First impressions: It has nothing to do with golfing, but with Samsung and Half Moon Bay which are both committed to putting on a first rate tourney while also being sensitive to the environment as well.

Right outside the media tent . . . solar-powered porta-potties. Honestly, I don’t know what that means when it comes to the operation of the commuting commodes, but I know it’s evidence of Samsung, and Half Moon Bay’s commitment to do the right thing by the environment while enjoying the green it has to offer. How cool is that?

More about the players and the tourney in future posts. But, for now, the organizers have already impressed me.
