Date September 21, 2008

(Interview conducted near the scoring tent off the 18th green at following a round of the 2008 AT&T National Pro-Am.)

Full name:  Stone Stockton Phillips; Age: 53 (Dec. 2, 1954); Birthplace: , N.Y.; Residence: New York, N.Y.; Occupation: Television broadcaster ; Hobbies: tennis, golf, piano; Family: Wife, Debra; Son, Streeter (1988); Education: Yale University, 1977 (Philosophy); Golf Handicap: 8; Best round: 77, Piping Rock Golf Club, Locust Valley, N.Y.; Club memberships: St. Andrew’s Golf Club (Hastings, N.Y.) and Bayonne Golf Club (Bayonne, N.J.)

Growing up I always wanted to be . . . a teacher.

The best idea I ever had was . . . not to take golf too seriously

The thing I’m most proud of . . . my family

It’s not true that . . .  Stone is a stage name. It’s my real name.

The world would be a better place if . . . we got more serious about protecting the environment

The thing I don’t leave home without is . . . a kiss from my wife.

The best day of my life was . . . tomorrow.

I’m envious of . . . almost everyone else’s golf swing.

My finest athletic moment was . . . playing quarterback for Yale.

My first job was . .  riverboat captain at Six Flags Over Mid-America.

My life’s mantra is . . .  Let it go.

The biggest waste of time is . . . Watching too much television.

When I need to relax I . . . work out

My ideal foursome is . . . , , Shivas Irons and me.

The biggest disappointment is my life is . . . My tee shots this year on #18 at (During the AT&T National Pro-Am (all THREE of them.)

The one thing I don’t have that I wish I did have is . . . even the slightest idea of where my golf ball is going on all too many shots.
